Spectra

This afternoon we calibrated an elderly spectroscope and looked at diffraction lines. We calculated the gap in nanometres between the lines in the grating, and also the frequency of the lines. We got 593nm, exact answer is 590 so I was pretty pleased with that.

This afternoon's tutor is unfortunately completely without humour, the first time this has been the case. He is a dead ringer for the Archbishop of York too. Considering we had such a shaky and disheartening start we have done really well.
