8.16am. Had a long shower (how is it that I can shower and still smell after a thorough scrubbing?), and a shave. Managed to cock up trimming my beard so I have had to shave the beard off leaving just a goatee. That in itself took three razor blades, so I have just two left from the pack I brought with me. I'm sure McColl's will sell more if I need them but it was a little galling.
Went for breakfast in Bramber House, and it was fairly quiet. Had a modest breakfast, during which I chatted to Pam about the week so far (she is a delightful lady, I hope that we keep in touch afterwards). She was saying that for her husband's 60th birthday they went to Australia and New Zealand to see family members, for her 60th, her husband organised a large dinner party with family and friends at home. This surprised her as he's not an organiser, so the fact that he was able to do this and keep it a secret was touching to her.
Today is Activity A, which is 'Rocks and Radioactivity: Energy in the Earth'. It will I believe start with some investigation into rock specimens, interpretation of sedimentary, igenous and metamorphic rocks, exploration of background radiation, generation of radioactive isotopes, and then the absorption and variation of radioactive decay with time.
Today should be a good day, and I am looking forward to it. I can't claim to be wholly refreshed (that seems to be a pattern for the whole week so far) but I feel relatively alert.
