On my walk I spotted two people trying to take photographs of each other. I watched for a moment, a tall slender girl with her mother. Within a few seconds I saw that the girl was in graduation dress, and I realised that I had seen a poster up somewhere around Falmer House relating to a graduation ball. As there was nobody else around I was very happy to do the decent thing, and I offered to take a photograph of the two of them together. They seemed delighted and grateful. It turned out that the girl had managed to achieve a first. Well done her.

And... I even managed to get my 'money shot', a photograph of me by the concrete 'University of Sussex' sign (close to the underpass that takes you to Falmer station), although not the one I had originally intended. There are two, but one of them had students climbing all over it for some reason...
I called in at the USSU shop and picked up a sweatshirt to take home, and then took a walk back to my room. The glorious weather probably has a fair part to play in it but I felt really happy to be here, and (despite having paid for the privilege) that it has been a good week. There's not much chance of my doing it now at my age but it did make me want to be a full-time student again.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Open University and what it stands for, but the thought of being able to live on campus, live amongst like-minded people, and get my degree in three years rather than six or seven, has a heck of a lure tonight.
