Lost in Translation

5.53pm. The afternoon Activity D session was much harder work, and to be honest I got rather lost on numerous occasions. There were times when I was looking through the microscope and I wasn't really sure what I was looking at. Fortunately the activity tutor was on hand to offer help but sometimes the explanation didn't really make it clearer - and it's not her fault, biology simply isn't my bag.

Fortunately one can always fall back on smut, and a rudely shaped air bubble kept the group's spirits up.

The lab coat has therefore been well and truly christened, it's hanging up in the wardrobe looking a little crumpled but still virtually unblemished. David Bard's (our group tutor) lab coat looked like he had eaten his lunch in it for about the last month.

I'm letting the large queues for dinner die down a bit first before I go and stand in line. Plus I'm not especially hungry yet. Dinner is served until 7.15pm so there is plenty of time. At home we wouldn't normally eat anything like so early; to eat at 5.30pm would be like eating on the bus home from work.

My plans for the evening are fluid. I have several options, (1) do nothing and get an early night with a book, (2) do nothing and go to the pub with some friends, (3) go and attend some of the optional tutorials after 8.15pm, or (4) in the early evening jump on a bus and go and look at the sea.

My brain certainly needs defogging. Whilst the brain isn't a muscle it certainly feels as though it has cramp. I certainly found it very hard to concentrate this afternoon, and at times I was scribbling as fast as I could to get down the explanation given for something, so that if it crops up on the ECA I will have a reasonable chance of getting it right. I hope that I am feeling better tomorrow. More blog later on.
